Idiots driving cars and riding bikes

Dear Editor:

Re: “Cyclists might be allowed to yield instead of stopping,” Feb. 4:

Aspen and Pitkin County have the most illiterates of any community in Colorado. Those in their cars or SUVs do not know how to use their turn signals. They think “stop” means “speed through on purpose”! Idiots!

The bicycles are supposed to obey all signs, indicating turns with hand signals, etc. “Stop” does not mean “speed through on pedals”! There should be more responsibility on each and every driver to share the road. Already we have too many idiots. You wish to make it worse.

Take a survey of our Roaring Fork Transportation Authority bus drivers – how often each and every one of them encounters these two groups of idiots per day.

Those on bicycles should have to wear hunter orange or green with reflective tape and identification numbers on the front and back. They also should hold a bicyclist’s license. That way they could be called in for being idiots!

Stop means stop.
