IB program thrives, thanks to Aspen Education Foundation
I wanted to take a moment and publicly recognize the Aspen Education Foundation (AEF) for its support of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Aspen High School. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is an advanced course of academic study recognized throughout the world for the quality of education that it provides. One of my goals as coordinator of the program at Aspen High School is that all students be afforded access to the challenge and rigor of IB coursework without consideration to financial circumstances.
As they have so consistently done in many other ways, AEF has made a positive difference in the lives of students taking IB courses. Through the Grants for Excellence Program, AEF has provided funds to help families in financial need bridge the gap of affording to pay for their students’ IB examinations for the May 2011 Examination Session.
Despite being the smallest public high school in North America to offer the IB Diploma Program and having an open enrollment policy that allows any student who has completed necessary prerequisites to participate in IB, our examination results have consistently met and exceeded the international mean. Students participating in IB courses consistently testify of the excellent quality of classes they experience, as well as the added benefits of learning to manage time, challenge themselves academically and analyze problems rather than just memorize solutions.
I would also like to thank those donors who have so generously contributed to the Aspen Education Foundation over the years. Know that your donations are making a positive difference in the lives of our students.
