I second the motion
March 14, 2002
May I hereby give an “atta boy” and issue a strong second to my friend, Harry Benton, on his motion to urge the Aspen Skiing Co. to make helmets mandatory for its employees.
Rather than make helmets mandatory for its customers, helmets for all employees would set the proper example for skiers and avoid the need for any coercive measures toward the public.
After checking with suppliers, I estimate helmets could be provided to Skico employees for no more than $75 each. This would give the company a leg up on other ski areas, promote helmet usage, lower the possibility of lawsuits, and be a great public relations vehicle.
Go Skico! Play the hero this time.
