Hydrants getting flushed in Basalt
Commuters and pedestrians who encounter water flowing out of hydrants and valves in Basalt streets this week are being urged not to freak out. It’s part of the autumn maintenance program.
The public works department started flushing the systems starting Tuesday and will continue into the week. Water will be flowing into the streets. Motorists are urged to drive carefully.

Nearly three years after Aspen City Council cleared the founder of Jazz Aspen Snowmass to launch a jazz performance and education center downtown, Jim Horowitz said he expects the project will get rolling before the year is over.
