Huge support for hockey
Dear Editor:In challenging times the Aspen community has once again pulled through in style. Last weekend was the 10th anniversary of the Stirling Cup Classic weekend and it was a huge success. The Aspen Leafs beat the Red Wings Alumni team in an action-packed showdown and the Aspen Grog Shop team won bragging rights for the year in the Stirling Cup golf tournament.More importantly our community came together to support the scholarship needs of three local clubs: AVSC, Aspen Junior Hockey and Aspen United Soccer. Together we can make it possible for all children to be able to participate. So a big thank you to the community, all of our golf teams, and our special supporters Nancy C. and Richard Rogers, the city of Aspen, Gerald Hosier, Marni and Chuck Bond, Chuck and Marilyn Frias, Fenton Construction, William H. Baker Construction and all the local businesses that stand by us year after year on this event. You inspire us.Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard ClubAspen Junior HockeyAspen United Soccer Club The Stirling Cup Committee

Aspen’s dirty downtown alleys are enough of a blight that the city government is taking the initiative to clean them up this week.
