Howard L. Mayer

Longtime Aspenite, ex ski patrolman, pilot, golfer, husband and father of five, Howard L. Mayer (Howie/Uncle Wiggley), passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.

He was born in Chicago to Stanley Mayer and Jeanette Pasinski. He had two older sisters, Beatrice and Martha, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline; three sons, Michael Mayer, Mark Mayer and Larry Mayer; and two daughters, Nikki Hennings and Nanette Fenn. He was also blessed with grandchildren Jessica Mayer, Jamie Fenn, David Hennings and Michael Platts.



He leaves behind many special ski patrol and flying buddies, all of whom have expressed respect, concern and kindness. He cherished your friendships.

The family would like to extend appreciation to the compassionate staff of Valley View Hospital, and Father Cliff of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.




A small gathering for Howie’s friends will be announced at a later date as per his request.

Cremation has taken place.
