Howard Holgate

Howard Holgate passed away on May 15, 2011 at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale. He was 97.

Howard was born on Feb. 13, 1914 in Elmira, N.Y. to Louise and Howard A. Holgate.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Howard married Marian Wilson and they raised four daughters in Ridgewood, N.J.

He moved to Aspen after his wife’s death in 1985. He loved hiking and skiing with his grandsons.

Howard will be sadly missed by his brother, Kenneth of Glenora, N.Y.; daughters Joanne Dowd of London, England, Sally DeWolfe of Carbondale, Debbie (Bill) Iurato of Warwick, N.Y., and Crissy Stromeyer of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandchildren Luke (Shelby), Jesse, and Jake DeWolfe, Corrine, Emily and Christie Iurato, and Karen Stromeyer; great-grandchildren Hunter and Ella DeWolfe, and nieces and nephews.

A private family remembrance of Howard’s life will be held at a later date.
