How the Left pursues peace

Dear Editor:In his letter of 28 June, Mr. Breslin described himself as, “a fan of founder history, and an owner of the collections of Jefferson, Franklin, Paine, and other great writers who inspired our independence” and referred to the “Gadsten Flag.”I find it remarkable that a collector and scholar of those documents would misspell the name of the designer of the flag, Christopher Gadsden, who was a delegate to the Continental Congress and a brigadier general in the Continental Army during the War of Independence.Mr. Breslin then paraphrased/misquoted the Declaration of Independence to further reinforce his argument, “And while our courageous forefathers risked their lives, their liberty, and their sacred honor for the betterment of people everywhere …”More accurately, in their capacity as “the Representatives of the [u]nited States of America,” they agreed to “mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.” Clearly their goal was the betterment of the citizens of the United States, not the whole world. Mr. Breslin conveniently neglected to mention the founders’ “Fortunes” which would equate to Tea Partiers’ “own bottom lines” affirming the Tea Partiers’ understanding and agreement with the Declaration of Independence as well their constitutional roots. Without property, there is no freedom, as demonstrated by the disparity in the quality of life of “the people” and the nomenklatura of Socialist countries, dictatorships, Third World hell holes and, unless something is done to return our country to the rule of law rather than men, the United States. There is a great deal of finger-pointing and name-calling directed at Tea Partiers and Conservatives. They’re described as hate-filled, xenophobic, racist, stupid gun-loving right-wing extremist rednecks capable of great violence. To date, I haven’t seen any examples of violent acts committed by Tea Party activists. Democrats, Libertarians and Anarchists seem to be the ones committing the violence. Here are documented examples of the Left pursuing their peaceful means of affecting “change”:• “Kenneth Gladney, Black Conservative Beaten By White Liberals, To File Hate Crime Charges”• “Man’s Finger Bitten Off in Scuffle at Health Care Rally”,0,7135717.story• “NBPP: “We will be at the polls in the cities and counties in many states to ensure that the enemy does not sabotage the black vote, which was won through the blood of the martyrs of our people.”• “The New Orleans Beating: Real Violence, Real Evidence, No Media”• “Arrested Michigan Militia Leader Was A Ron Paul Fanatic”• “SHOCKING VIDEO: Disgruntled Liberal Punches Tea Party Protestor”• “Give Me Tenure or Give Me a 9mm: the Tenure Killer”• “Pilot targets IRS, missing worker ID’d. Officials: Pilot set house on fire, crashed plane” Mr. Brelsin exhibited the barest minimum of class in not referring to Tea Partiers as Teabaggers he’s still dead wrong. The handbook of the Right is the U.S. Constitution; the Left’s is Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.” Under which set of rules would you prefer your children and grandchildren to live?Neal PollackCarbondale
