How about a truly green donation?

Dear Editor:

It is great that the employees of Skico donated so much money; it would have been even better if the funds had gone to organizations that actually did something about energy usage (“Skico workers donate $83,000 to green causes,” Jan. 7).

How about a donation to LEAP (the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program that helps pay utility bills), or purchasing weather stripping and other materials that would help low-income people in the valley live in more energy-efficient dwellings? This would be much more efficient than donating it to a bunch of nonprofits that only produce more papers, hot air and lawsuits.
