Hotel holiday leadership

Dear Editor:As I dream about the coming Christmas holiday, I think about what the hotels in Beverly Hills, Calif., plan to do, what the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs will do and what the major Colorado hotels in Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen, Snowmass Village and Summit County will fail to do.What I think of is holiday season leadership worthy of luxury destinations. In Beverly Hills, the Peninsula Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hills Hotel, The Beverly Hilton, Raffles L’Ermitage Hotel Beverly Hills and The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel are the holiday leadership vanguard for sprucing up Beverly Hills as a world-class Christmas scenic destination for vacationing, shopping and sightseeing. The spirit of Christmas comes alive for all to see and enjoy.Between Denver and Salt Lake City and down to Santa Fe, Vail, Aspen and Summit fail to show hotel holiday leadership in the Rocky Mountains.Only the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs annually shows holiday leadership for hundreds of miles around by giving this vast Colorado Rocky Mountain region a magnificent holiday spectacular, worthy of Beverly Hills’ notice.Rifle teenagers like the marvelous Eva Cannon volunteer to decorate the Hotel Colorado to make her the shining star of the Western Slope.Come to the Nov. 26 Hotel Colorado pageant of lights celebration by arriving early at 6 p.m. for live music, more than 200,000 lights, fireworks and food free to the public. However, if you cannot visit to thoroughly tour the Hotel Colorado inside and outside, to see the lovely holiday decor, then stop by any day or night during December with your family and friends to be awed by sights to be remembered that you don’t see at big department stores anymore.Experience the holiday magic of the Hotel Colorado that even attracts television news trucks from Colorado Springs just recently. The Hotel Colorado’s holiday sprucing-up activities call for the Glenwood Springs business community and local government to do more to make Glenwood Springs a first-class Christmas holiday destination by having a parade and getting the whole town lit up with millions of lights and Christmas decorations to rival Walt Disney and Co. Aspen, Vail and the others aren’t trying to compete, so Glenwood Springs, because of the Hotel Colorado, you have the lead.Emzy Veazy III, Esq.
