Hopping mad

Dear Editor:

It has been two minutes since I read Hilary Burgess letter (Aug. 14) concerning her road rage incident and I am hopping mad by the fact that the man that cut her off was only given a stern warning. What the heck is wrong with Pitco deputies? We all know what is wrong with our sheriff, but for Pete’s sake, deputies, if Braudis told you to jump off a bridge would you do it?

There is absolutely no excuse driving recklessly. I don’t care if you are late for your job or a nail appointment. Besides endangering everyone on the road you are sending a message to our teen drivers that it is okay to speed, and that the local authorities don’t care.

I have heard of two incidences of teens driving through Snowmass Canyon who were caught doing over 90 miles per hour! Have you notices all the scrape marks along the barriers on either side of the road? It is a sign that a car has lost control.

Hilary, please don’t stop being a law abiding citizen. Call the CSP, call your County Commissioners (one confided to me that they are very frustrated with Braudis). We have an obligation to be role models for our youth. Too many of them die because they think it is okay to drive like Earnhart.

And once again deputies, how are you going to feel when you are called to an accident of a habitual speed offender who has just killed an innocent person?
