Hoping for an agreement
September 8, 2002
As the mother of two small children, it has been my pleasure to have been a patient of Teresa Hall, (Dr. Harling), Linda Viera and Dr. Bruice. It is my hope that the disputing parties will both be allowed to practice, as they all have special talents they bring forth in mutual participation.
This letter, however, is especially in support for the continuing practice of the midwives at Aspen Center for Women’s Health at Aspen Valley Hospital.
Teresa Hall delivered my second-born son almost two years ago. Dr. Harling presided over the delivery (filling in for Dr. Bruice) as I was a VBAC patient, and a medical doctor had to be on hand for delivery.
Teresa (not to mention the doctor) was incredibly sensitive during labor to my needs, wishes and desires to have the perfect “at home birth” at the hospital, and especially in regards to my concerns for baby’s and mom’s well being.
It would be a great loss to the community to lose such an incredibly tolerant, understanding, intuitive midwife (midwives, rather) who knows how to do things right and manages to convince a woman in labor to do the things she has to do but doesn’t want to in cooperation with the rest of the team.
Hopefully both parties of this matter can be happily consoled for the sake of all of the wonderfully caring practioners at Aspen Valley and especially to the benefit of us “patients” in the Roaring Fork valley and beyond.
