Hoops camp set in Snowmass
July 5, 2010
SNOWMASS VILLAGE – The Viceroy Snowmass, the Snowmass Recreation Center and the Kenyon Martin Foundation will hold the Hoops for Kids All-Star Celebrity Basketball Camp Tuesday through Thursday, July 6-8, in Snowmass Village.
The event will feature appearances by the Denver Nuggets’ Martin, Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, and retired NBA player Cuttino Mobley, as well as football players Lonie Paxton of the Denver Broncos and Marcus Harris of the San Diego Chargers. Other professional athletes may attend, subject to scheduling.
Hoops for Kids is open to boys and girls ages 6 and up of all playing abilities. The three-day camp, held at the Viceroy and the Recreation Center, includes two and a half days of basketball, lunches, a half-day rafting trip, and a visit to the Snowmass Rodeo.
In addition to the camp, on Tuesday there will be a gala fundraising dinner, including a silent auction with such items as a golf outing with an NBA All-Star, autographed memorabilia, tickets to Nuggets, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and Avalanche games, and more. The gala, co-hosted by Martin and Viceroy general manager Jeff David, will raise funds for the Snowmass Recreation Center and the Kenyon Martin Foundation, which provides parenting assistance and career guidance to teenagers who become parents, and to assist families without father figures.
