Honor, sacrifice, valor and privilege

Dear Editor:

Unbeknown to me, I had the privilege while acting in my capacity as “ambassador to Aspen” of playing my acoustic guitar at the Pitkin County Airport to welcome our disabled veterans.

As the reception through the arrival door progressed, I realized how much these veterans had sacrificed in order to protect my freedom.

Kudos to the Aspen Elks Club for its huge effort. Not only did it provide food, beverages and snacks to the arriving veterans, but it shared the arrivals door with me and made sure that each veteran had the hero’s welcome they deserved.

To our veterans: God bless them one and all.
