Holley for council

Dear Editor:

Your “close reading” of the Basalt candidates’ responses to your questions misses a salient point (“In Basalt, vote for Paussa, Teague and Freedman,” April 2, 2010).

The two candidates who missed the election forum are working mothers with children. Mary Holley and Karin Teague both missed the forum because they were away on spring break with their families. How unfortunate and perhaps ironic that the forum was scheduled during the start of spring break, and therein lies my point. We need people on the Town Council who represent families with children.

Mary Holley has a child in the Basalt public school system, understands the concerns and interests of working families in this town and is dedicated to the balance of economic growth with small-town charm. Mary Holley has my vote!
