Holiday spirit
Dear Editor:During the month of December, Aspen Middle School students participated in a holiday gift drive through Lift Up and Holiday Baskets. Originated by the student group Acts of Hope, students were asked to stop by the front office and pick up a mitten with a description of a person in our valley who was in need of some extra help this holiday season. Within the week, all of the mittens were gone! The office was covered in gifts that the students and their families donated. It was wonderful to see everyone getting so excited about sharing with others. Some classroom groups also sponsored entire families or contributed monetarily. The students absolutely amazed us all with their generosity. Aspen Middle School has several service projects currently running out of basecamp groups, including a blanket drive and a Penny War to benefit the Silver Lining Foundation – a local nonprofit that brings children with cancer to Aspen for an all-expense-paid vacation. We would like to acknowledge the entire Aspen Middle School community for its tremendous efforts to help others.Warmest wishes for a happy holiday.Molly Kridel, counselorAspen Middle SchoolElaine Bonds, parentCandice Christensen, parent
