Hjorth: Betsy for RFSD Board

Betsy After should have a seat on Roaring Fork School District’s School Board (District B.)
I have known her personally for many years. She is an invested member of our community and has two young children who are currently students in the RFSD and will be part of the school district for at least the next decade; with a family business, she has years of professional experience in line with what it will take to deliver on her priorities, which include responsible and transparent leadership and smart fiscal management. Having two students myself in the RFSD, I know first-hand how important it is to elect an educated, balanced, committed, and steady leader to help lead our school community.
With her background as a leader on boards — including the Basalt Public Library District Board and Mount Sopris Montessori Preschool Board — and her work as a local non-profit leader with experience in budgeting and fiscal management, she has proven her commitment to our students and education and has the experience necessary in working with large, complex budgets. She will ensure that the annual budget aligns with the needs of our students and the community.
She is committed to the success of the Roaring Fork Valley and RFSD, and I have no doubt that her dedication will make an impact. I strongly encourage my fellow community members to vote for Betsy After on Nov. 7.
