History of a ranch

Dear Editor:

Will stay out of the pecking order thing between you and Roger. Roger’s letter went over your head; I think in a humorous way was trying to say who cares.

That said, I want to know the history of the Marolt ranch. I was always told that the Marolt’s bought their ranch from the Holden company for a buck in 1904, and combined it with the Midland ranch which they acquired directly from the Midland Railroad company a few years earlier. I never heard anything about the Stapleton’s owning that ranch. The Marolt’s did own a very small parcel of land of what is now Meadow Wood, perhaps that was purchased from Spike. I’d really like to know.

Perhaps fodder for a column.

Mike Marolt
