Dear Editor:It seems in this valley that no one grows old.Perhaps it’s the altitude or the dry cold.With yoga, pilates, folks stay fit and leanAnd burn off more fat in the mad social scene.But we from sea level who still want to hikeAre not quite so frisky, and here’s what we’d like:Put a handrail on the Ute Trail.Run an escalator up to Crater Lake.Build a shelter lest we swelterHalfway up the Aspen Mountain for a break,And install some nice reclining chairs.Please build a trail of gentle stairsUp Smuggler, Hunter, SunnysideSo seniors can ascend with pride.And is it too much to demandA people-mover on the Rio Grande?Ethel GofenChicago
