Hiker found near Aspen

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – An Aspen visitor who was reported missing early Monday was found later in the day near the Hunter Creek Trail after three nights outdoors, authorities said.

Yuli Nazarov left for a hike Friday and spent three nights in the backcountry. On Friday he had e-mailed his wife, who lives in the Netherlands, letting her know he was headed out for a hike. He said he would e-mail her back when he returned that same Friday, said Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Bauer.

The wife called authorities at approximately 2 a.m. Monday to let them know Nazarov had not returned. A search ensued, and a Mountain Rescue Aspen member discovered Nazarov walking down the Jeep road near the McCloskey property, Bauer said. Nazarov did not suffer any injuries and did not seek medical attention.
