Highway 82 paving from Aspen Business Center to roundabout begins Monday

Staff report

Aspen commuters may be in for it again next week.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is planning to repave Highway 82 between the Aspen Business Center and the roundabout starting Monday and continuing through Thursday, according to a statement.

Crews will tackle the westbound, downvalley lanes first Monday and part of Tuesday before moving to the eastbound, upvalley lanes later, the release states.

Traffic, however, will continue to flow in two lanes in both directions because crews will direct traffic into bus lanes, according to the release.

“Due to the volume of vehicles in Aspen this time of year, delays should be expected, so plan ahead and add some extra time to your commute,” the release states.

RFTA CEO Dan Blankenship said Wednesday they are aware of the road work and use of bus lanes and “we are working with CDOT to minimize the impacts.”
