Highway 82 improvements get focus in Aspen

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – Improvements in entering and exiting Highway 82 at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport and Aspen Business Center will be the topic of a public meeting this week.

The session is one in a series of discussions that are intended to conclude with a proposed “access control plan” among the city of Aspen, Pitkin County and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

As the business center and airport “develop and redevelop, it’s important for us to be proactive in how vehicles and pedestrians get into and out of these areas as safely and efficiently as possible,” said G.R. Fielding, Pitkin County engineer, in a press release. “Our hope is that transportation needs will be considered on equal footing with commercial and residential development needs and proposals.”

Citizens interested in learning more about the plan or contributing to it are invited to a discussion from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the North 40 Fire Station. For more information, call Fielding at 920-5206.
