Highway 133 bridge to close
Aspen, CO Colorado
CARBONDALE ” The Highway 133 bridge at the entrance to Carbondale will be closed Thursday and Friday nights from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. to allow for final paving and the addition of pavement marking, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
CDOT and contractor Sema Construction have scheduled the work during periods of low-traffic volume and to avoid closing the intersection of Highways 133 and 82 during peak daytime traffic.
During the closure, upvalley motorists are advised to use County Roads 154 and 109 to access Carbondale from Highway 82. Motorists heading downvalley should use County Road 100 (Catherine Store Road) to reach Carbondale from Highway 82. Electronic-message signs and detour signs will be in place to guide motorists.
After completion of the paving work, the bridge will be opened to four lanes of traffic ” two in each direction ” and the double left-turn lane from downvalley Highway 82 onto southbound Highway 133 will be open.
The bridge-widening project is nearing completion, and major work is expected to wrap up by late September, according to CDOT. Work still to be done includes reclaiming disturbed areas adjacent to the work site and restoring wetlands near the Roaring Fork River.
