Hidden Gems will hamper tourism
September 28, 2009
Attention business owners, tourism industry, outdoor enthusiasts, and everyday folks of the Roaring Fork Valley: The Hidden Gems Wilderness Proposal has the potential to cost this valley millions of dollars in lost revenue and hundreds of jobs due to lost recreation opportunities.
Conveniently, this proposal lacks an Economic Impact Study. Gee, I wonder why? The Wilderness Workshop claims that this action is something that the community wants and supports; however, they have failed to include any other user groups except mountain bikers in these discussions. So much for the community support theory! Say no to wilderness, say yes to responsible recreational use and conservation of our public lands and natural recourses to preserve their aesthetic and recreational qualities for future generations.
