Heuga race events kick off with party

Aspen Times Staff Report

The Jimmy Heuga Snow Express for MS will kick off Thursday with a party at Aspen Highlands, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aspen Highlands Village Preview Center on Thunderbowl Road.

The party will offer details about the race and how people can participate. The Snow Express for MS will be held at Snowmass on March 13. The event is a fun-packed day of friendly competition beginning with a downhill marathon and closing with a dual giant slalom race.

All sorts of snow sliders on teams of three will be welcome. Prizes and gifts will be awarded, all based on a points system that offers credits based on a range of different criteria from most money raised to largest number of donors to best team performance in the marathon.

Advance registration ($100) paid at Thursday’s party will earn bonus points toward an overall team victory. And in addition to the many prizes, the winning team will earn a trip to the finals in Vail in April.

For more information about the event or the party, call co-chairs Claudia Curry-Hill at 923-4048, or Georgia Hanson at 925-6400, or the Jimmie Heuga Center at 1-888-DOIT4MS. Party reservations can be made with Allison at 920-6775.
