Here’s to history

Dear Editor:

The Aspen Historical Society would like to thank everyone who helped out with or attended any of the Celebrate History Week events last week. It is encouraging to see so many people interested in learning about and maintaining the history that helps make Aspen the truly special place it is.

To the mayor and the City Council: Thanks for making it all official! Thanks also to ACES for the snowshoe tour of Ashcroft, as well as the staff of the Wheeler Opera House and Bob and Wendy Moore for the fabulous production of “Bully: An Adventure with Teddy Roosevelt.” And the 50th anniversary celebrations of both Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands were great gatherings of young and old, familiar and not, skier, snowboarder and everyone in between. We couldn’t have done it without help from the following people and businesses: the Aspen Skiing Co. and Ryan, Kevin, Caitlyn and Doreen; Bill, Ryan, Clayton and the staff of the Highlands Pizza Co.; Barry, Henrietta and the staff of Bumps restaurant; donated prizes courtesy of Bumps, Four Mountain Sports, the Merry-Go-Round, The 100’s Pilates at Aspen Highlands; and, of course, the Aspen Historical Society staff.

And remember to celebrate the history that has helped bring us to this point in time, and here’s to the next 50 years of skiing and snowboarding in Aspen!
