Hemp bags would be nice

Dear Editor:

Now that Basalt has decided to pass a regressive tax (i.e. the “fee” on plastic bags at grocery stores), the Town Council has created a prime opportunity to also promote the legalization of industrial hemp.

Industrial hemp would make great shopping bags. It’s tough and is a renewable resource. The Basalt Town Council should pass a resolution supporting the legalization of industrial hemp and send it to someone.
