Help the Spang family

Dear Editor:

Aaron Hedge’s Monday article on Bill Spang’s tragic accidental death painted a good picture of the wonderful man Bill was.

I want to expand on the quote from Derek Mitchell that Bill “lived up to his word.” Bill was the real thing – kind-hearted, fair, conscientious, honest and committed – a real contrast to the self-centeredness and irresponsibility we often experience around us today. You could count on Bill. He stood behind his work, his family and his friends. And on top of it all, he was always cheerful and positive.

The second tragedy is that he had no insurance for his family, I’m told because of a medical condition. I hope all who knew him will dig deep in their pockets to honor Bill by contributing the most they can to the fund set up at the American National Bank to help his family.
