Help the Buddies
Dear Editor:
This year marks the Buddy Program’s 35th anniversary. Yes, 35 years of successfully matching adult volunteer mentors with young people from Aspen to El Jebel.
The celebration begins the morning of July 4, with the annual Boogie’s Diner Buddy 5-Mile Race, an Aspen tradition since the late ’70s. Not a runner? You can walk the course and even bring your dog along for the 1-Mile Family Walk. It’s a great way to kick off the 4th of July weekend with your family and friends while supporting a worthy cause.
Register in front of Boogie’s Diner July 3, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., or online at http://www.buddyprogram.org.
The Buddy Program is also looking for volunteers for its two fund-raising events: the July 4 race and Boogie’s Bash for the Buddies Gala on July 5. To volunteer, please call Erika, at 274-0805, or the Buddy Program, at 920-2130.
Whether you run, walk or volunteer, we look forward to seeing you at the Boogie’s Diner Buddy 5-Mile Race on the Fourth! Your support helps us touch the lives of hundreds of young people in our community.
