Help satisfy animals’ hunger

Dear Editor:

The Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation is currently feeding nine hungry, orphaned bear cubs as well as an assortment of coyotes, foxes, baby elk, fawns, eagles, owls and lots more.

Please help us feed these “eating machines” with a donation of unopened bags of high-quality, dry dog food. You can deliver the food to the Pitkin County Jail between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. any day of the week. The jail staff will even help you carry the dog food from your car.

The Wildlife Foundation critters want to thank Walt Geister for organizing this effort and Richard Pryor, chief of police, for allowing donors to park in the Galena Street circle next to the Pitkin County Courthouse while taking the dog food to the jail.

While we’re writing, we would also like to thank Mason Morse Real Estate for donating the booth the Wildlife Foundation used at the Aspen Saturday Market this past weekend. More thanks go to the Aspen Police Department for the loan of the Bear Aware cutout.

And finally, a really big “bear hug” to everyone who stopped to talk with us and make a donation to the care and rehabilitation of the wildlife at the Wildlife Foundation.

If you are unable to deliver a bag of dog food, monetary donations can also be made to the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation, 5945 Country Road 346, Silt, CO 81652 any time of the year. And check out our website at
