Here are some of the ongoing relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims during Aspen Hurricane Relief Week. Information on additional opportunities can be sent to Catherine at, 925-9156 (fax) or 925-3414, ext. 234.- The Dogwood Grill and Aspen Valley Hurricane Relief Fund are having a cocktail party and silent auction from 6-9 tonight at the Dogwood Grill in Basalt for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Tickets are $50 at the door. All proceeds will be donated to the Bush/Clinton Hurricane Fund. For more information, contact David Rittvo (a New Orleans native) at 963-9418 or Susan Koch at 927-4000.- Basalt Middle School staff members have set up some opportunities for kids to help the hurricane victims through Oct. 7. There are collection jars in each of the classrooms for cash donations. Students can buy blue ribbons to show their support for the cause. And popsicles and other goodies are on sale after school. The staff is looking for a generous donor to match students’ donations. Anyone interested can contact Kelly Shanahan at 384-5899 or – Snowmass Village offers a chance to help Hurricane Katrina victims this weekend at the Snowmass Balloon Festival. The Red Cross truck will be at the Snowmass softball fields during the Dawn Quixote hot air balloon competition from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday to accept cash donations. On Saturday evening during the free NightGlow and concert with the Lone Pine Bluegrass Band on the Snowmass softball fields, tethered balloon rides will be available for a suggested donation of $10 toward the Red Cross relief efforts. Throughout the weekend, all sales of the balloon festival’s 30th anniversary commemorative poster for $10 also will benefit Red Cross efforts. For information, call (800) SNOWMASS or e-mail Fin’s Grille has a silent auction through Thursday at the restaurant in Glenwood Springs. Proceeds will be sent to the American Red Cross. The auction ends with a benefit buffet from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Fin’s is located at 710 Grand Ave. and can be reached at 945-4771.
