Help fire victims

Dear Editor:

Please help! It is time to rally together for all of the families impacted in the Fryingpan fire.

An 11-plex apartment building burned to the ground Friday night. Four or more units were gutted. All others were damaged by smoke and water. All are greatly affected if not destroyed.

I will gather more details about who specifically needs help, but I do know that we need clothing, coats and boots for men, women and children – ASAP.

Please think about what you can donate: blankets, clothing, furniture, food, toys for the kids for Christmas. Even leads on affordable rentals available in the Roaring Fork Valley would be a great help.

I am asking not only that the Aspen and Roaring Fork Valley residents do whatever they are able, but long-distant, part-time valley residents who could put together care packages with clothing or anything that they could donate would be tremendously appreciated.

It’s Christmas. It is a terrible tragedy, but the incredible news is that no one was hurt. Many are left with nothing in the light of this day. Many need help. And I believe that if and when we are able, we absolutely, unequivocally should help.

Contact me at 970-618-0120, or simply ship what you are able to Fire Victims, c/o Hillary Maley, 7104 Frying Pan Road, No. 7, Basalt, CO 81621.

It is time not only to count our blessings but to act for others in need.
