Heartfelt thanks from Terrals

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:As we sat by our son, Alex’s, bedside at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, holding his hand and praying for a miracle, we contemplated not returning to our home in Aspen. Should the unthinkable happen, and should our precious son be taken from us, how could we return to the place in which everything would be a constant, painful reminder of his entire life and thus our loss?We thought about the milestones that would no longer be in our future: going to look at colleges in August, the upcoming and much anticipated senior basketball season, high school graduation, and many more. But the incredible support and love that we received while in Grand Junction and continue to receive since we returned to Aspen has been almost as overwhelming as our grief. To know that Alex touched as many hearts of so many people in different walks of life gives us comfort. We cannot begin to thank all of the warm and generous people that provided for us during this difficult time. Special mention needs to be made of Boogie Weinglass for opening up his home and his heart for the celebration of Alex’s life. That celebration, the music, our community that came out in force and the loving people that spoke about Alex will remain with us forever. How could we think of leaving that which sustains us? We thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. With much love, sorrow, and deep appreciation,Susan, Tim and Matt TerralAspen
