Hearing continued for Aspen man facing multiple counts

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – A preliminary hearing was continued Wednesday for a 46-year-old Aspen man accused of providing liquor to a minor and making sexual advances toward the youth.

Dandy Vickery is accused of 20 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and seven counts of unlawful sexual contact. The contributing to the delinquency of a minor counts are felonies.

The unlawful sexual contact count is a misdemeanor. Vickery is also charged with three habitual criminal counts, which stem from previous felony convictions, court documents show.

If convicted, he faces hundreds of years in state prison because the prior felonies trigger sentencing enhancements that would add decades to his term.

Defense attorney Kathy Goudy requested that the preliminary hearing be reset because some new information surfaced in the case in the last couple of days. That information included another Aspen police report on the incident.

Pitkin County District Court Judge James Boyd granted the request. Boyd ordered the hearing reset to 1:30 p.m. July 7.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin did not oppose the request.

Aspen police arrested Vickery in March on a warrant issued out of Pitkin County. The arrest stemmed from incidents at or near Rubey Park, according to a police report.
