Harmless powder clears Eagle County Sheriff’s Office

EAGLE, Colo. ” The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office was evacuated at about 1:30 p.m., Tuesday after two employees opened mail and were exposed to white powder.

The powder was later determined to be harmless.

The jail and the county courts, which share the Eagle County Justice Center in Eagle, Colorado, were not evacuated.

There were five people in the office when the suspicious mail was opened. They were checked by paramedics.

Eagle River Fire Protection District’s hazardous materials team responded to identify the material.

The inspector for the U.S. Postal Service was also notified.
