Hans Christopher Ayers passed away on Dec. 18, 2012 in Carbondale, Colo.
Hans was born on Sept. 2, 1964 in Kansas City, Mo. His family soon moved to the Roaring Fork Valley, where he remained throughout adulthood, settling in Carbondale, nestled in the arms of his beloved Mt. Sopris. Hans attended Basalt High School and CMC. He enjoyed skiing, camping, and hiking with his dogs.
Hans is survived by his mother, Ursula Shepherd; brother David Ayers; sister Jessie Light; sister-in-law Christine Ayers; brother-in-law Sam Light, nieces and nephews Charlie, Gus, Abby, Daisy, Ellie and Wally; and the love of his life Ana Paniagua.
There will be a memorial service in the springtime in Hans’ beautiful Sopris valley. Contributions may be made to The Bank of Colorado in Hans’ name.

Aspen Police this week released a redacted report detailing the 500 hours of investigation, including interviews of 86 witness and assistance from the FBI, of an ex-altar boy’s accusations from prison in 2021 of sexual abuse by a priest who had served at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the mid-2000s.
