Gun education is the key
July 30, 2012
Gun-control adherents, such as the mayor of New York, are screaming to high heaven about more gun control in a time like this. What they don’t seem to realize is that talk of gun control is moot. With the number of guns in the world today, there is no possible way to pass laws and enforce them to “control” guns.
Education is the only way to control guns. This has been demonstrated by shooting organizations nationwide. Accidents will continue to happen. Mentally unstable people will continue to wreak havoc with outbursts of gunfire, but with education guns will be under control except for those types of people, and they will always be able to obtain what they want (guns) when they want them to do with them what they want.
The best control of guns is education: education of proper gun handling, how dangerous they can be, how to shoot them, how to care for them, how to respect them and how to control them. Such education should really start as preschool activity and continue on an annual or biannual basis into at least middle school. This then leads to responsible people with concealed-carry permits, which also have demonstrated effectiveness in protecting human lives and preventing crime.
The old trite saying, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns,” has been proven true in locations that have made the attempt to control (outlaw) guns.
