Guest speaker at Aspen Community Church
ASPEN – Sophia Shafi, visiting assistant professor of Islamic studies at Iliff Theological Seminary in Denver, will be the guest speaker at Aspen Community Church’s 9 a.m. Sunday service.
Shafi’s teaching areas include courses on comparative religion and Islam. Her primary areas of research are Western representations of Muslim men, Shi’a pilgrimage and the holy sites associated with these traditions. She is currently editing her dissertation, “Wicked Skin: Muslim Monsters in the Western Imagination.”
