Grocer environmentally incorrect to quit bag discount
Dear Editor:Shame on City Market.Today I went shopping at City Market in El Jebel. While I was checking out, I noticed a very small (approximately 2 inches by 3 inches) sign that said that City Market would no longer give a 5-cent discount to shoppers who brought their own bags. This is a shameful policy. This small monetary incentive is the only way to cut back the rampant consumption of paper and plastic bags at the grocery store. Disposable grocery bags are a needless waste of the finite resources found on this earth. City Market is not a friend of the future!Giulio Del PiccoloCarbondale
