Great hoops camp

This past August, I attended the Aspen Basketball Academy, a camp for kids in grades 9-12, who came from all over the state and the country. The camp was held at the new Aspen High School gym and was led by Kevin Pritchard and Steve Ketchum. Pritchard is a former pro basketball player and is now a scout for the San Antonio Spurs. Ketchum is the Aspen High School basketball coach. I thought this was a great camp. It was disciplined, organized and made me work harder than any other basketball camp I have attended. The camp focused on fundamentals, team work and setting goals. Guest speakers included college coaches, college players, and the general manager of the San Antonio Spurs.I was honored to play in the All Star game during the camp with the players that I bonded with all week. The All Star game was televised locally and everyone had a great time. I even became friends with some of the players and the coach from my high school’s rival Aspen!Scholarships that were made possible by our sponsors allowed at least 60 Roaring Fork Valley kids to attend the camp. I would like to thank the sponsors that include Alpine Bank, Coates Reid & Waldron Real Estate; Houston & Gorog Real Estate Co.; The Travel Agents; The Little Nell; North of Nell; The Hotel Jerome; Hotel Lenado; The Limelight Lodge; The Innsbruck Inn; The Silver Tree Hotel; The Inn at Aspen; Hotel Aspen; The Hickory House; City Market; McDonald’s; Paradise Bakery; Jimmy’s; Cache Cache; Montagna at The Little Nell and many, many others. Every aspect of my game improved and I feel fortunate to have been a part of the Aspen Basketball Academy. I am looking forward to next year’s camp.Benjamin PollocksophomoreBasalt High School
