Great balls of gratitude
Dear Editor:In case anyone missed the bright red posters all around Carbondale for the past month, or saw the enormous tent rising above the Carbondale firehouse on Saturday, June 10, we just wanted everyone to know that once again, Carbondale Rotary Club hosted the happening event of the year!Six hundred of the valley’s finest dined on salmon and tenderloin by Conundrum Catering, danced to the Bobby Mason All Star Band, and with the magical coaxing of auctioneer supreme Doc Eason, contributed over $60,000 to the Rotary Foundation. One hundred percent of the profits will be given through the Rotary granting program to valley nonprofit organizations and the selected beneficiary of the event, Thunder River Theatre Company. Please join us in thanking the generous sponsors who made this event so successful: Jimmy Nadell and Conundrum Catering, Catherine Store Wine and Liquor, Bethel Party Rentals, Berthod Motors, Valley View Hospital Foundation, Tindall Jaycox Advertising, Wells Fargo, Schmueser Gordon Meyer Engineers, Alpine Bank, Ace Hardware, American National Bank, the Moleman, Herb & Kate Feinzig, Ice Man and Aspen Kool, the Pour House, Amore Realty, 6512 Productions, Chip Bishop CPA, Roaring Fork Rentals, Pacific Sheet Metal, Mt. Sopris Eye Care, Dr. Herschel Ross, Doc Eason/Rocky Mountain Magic, Whitsitt & Gross, Aspen Daily News, Heritage Park Care Center, the Timbers Co., Liberty Home Financial, Valley Journal, Orrison Distributing, and Chaparral Cleaning & Supply. An enormous, heartfelt thank-you goes to the Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District for making the entire evening possible. For two years, the fire department has opened their doors for the event, working tirelessly alongside our volunteers and adding comic relief at much needed times. They are all the most hospitable and generous hosts in the Roaring Fork Valley. They are a real partner for this event. And thank you to all the valley businesses who donated the auction items, making a most successful auction possible. But most importantly, thank you to all the people who purchased tickets and attended the event. You have contributed generously to our beautiful valley. The only folks who missed out on the fun were our local newspapers, who failed to show up with their complimentary tickets to photograph and record the largest local event of the year.So everyone mark your calendars for next year, tickets will be in hot demand for the Carbondale Rotary happening – Great Balls of Fire!Jody EnsignCarbondale Rotary ClubGreat Balls of Fire Event
