Grateful for the support
December 13, 2009
As a resident and local musician of the Roaring Fork Valley since the 1970s, I really need your help in getting my message of sincere gratitude out to our community. There are so very many people I need to address and I thank you in advance for giving me this venue to do so.
I had been disabled by two “very” damaged hips and in constant pain for the past few years. Dr. St. John of Orthopedic Associates provided me a bi-lateral (double) hip replacement surgery in September and his incredible staff along with everyone at Valley View Hospital have given me the awesome freedom of pain-free mobility all the while treating me with utmost kindness and respect. Although my will to walk again played a large part in my recovery, I could not have done it without “all” of you.
On Nov. 14, my friends, family, fellow musicians and community organized a gathering in Basalt at Two Rivers Bar and Cafe to help with my mounting medical expenses. The event consisted of music provided by some of the valley’s “finest”: dance, food/drink, auctions and overall, a kickin’ party.
For fear of omitting any names, I’d like to take this opportunity to send out one “great big hug and thank you” to all of the organizers, volunteers, vendors and private donors, my fellow musicians, everyone who attended the party and a very special thanks to Rick, Pat and “the gang” for providing us with your wonderful establishment, Two Rivers! You guys always step up to the plate whenever it is asked of you. It’s comforting to know there is still a hometown establishment that consistently embraces events such as this.
You have all helped me so much and please know that in your time of need … I will continue to be there for you as well.
