STERLING, Colo. ” Authorities say they have put out a fire that triggered the evacuation of eight structures north of Sterling.

Logan County Emergency Manager Bob Owens says the evacuation order was lifted Wednesday evening and the firefighters were mopping up the fire that burned about 450 acres of grassland.

The fire was reported Wednesday afternoon about 115 miles northeast of Denver.

Owens says firefighters were able to contain the fire before it reached the eight structures that were threatened.

Authorities say the flames got to within 40 feet of a home that had a propane tank nearby.

At least four fire departments were been called out. Owens says it’s unclear how the fire started.
