Grand Traverse thanks

Dear Editor:

The Elk Mountain Grand Traverse would like to thank the Aspen community for all that you did to co-host the 2010 13th Annual Elk Mountain Grand Traverse. Wicked high-altitude weather forced cancellation of the traditional Crested Butte-to-Aspen route; the race turned into a reverse, starting and finishing in Crested Butte.

Thank you, Aspen Skiing Co. (Peter King, Ryan Miller, Caroline and Jackie), for help with the non-finish line venue. Thank you, Aspen Ski Patrol, for helping with the Richmond Ridge practice setup. Thank you, Aspen Mountain Operations, base area crew and lift operations, for cooperating and helping us with our little repairs, etc. Kip and his crew at Conundrum Catering for driving the fine eats to Crested Butte! The city of Aspen for their continued support. Dan, our snowmobiler from Heaven – you had the right parts. Bob and Ruth Wade for everything that they do. Jim Ward for radio expertise. Thank you to Pierre and Andre Wille and David at the Tyrolean Lodge for giving our crews a place to rest their weary heads. North of Nell for their continued support to house the many volunteers. The Mountain Chalet for the non-awards ceremony. A big thank-you to Mountain Hardwear, our title sponsor and the great threads.

In the spirit of the Crested Butte/Aspen Proclamation made April 1, 2006, we are already excited about returning to the grand city of Aspen for the 2012 14th Annual Elk Mountains Grand Traverse Day!
