A grand opening for a new childcare facility that can accommodate up to 50 children in Basalt will take place later this week, according to a news release.

The community is invited to a ribbon cutting and grand opening at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. Attendees can tour the facility, meet the team, and celebrate this important and much needed facility. The Stott’s Mill development is located directly north of Basalt High School on Amesbury Drive.

“The Stott’s Mill Childcare Facility is a part of the ‘community benefit’ the Town exacted from the developer as part of the approvals of the Stott’s Mill subdivision and has been a long time in the making,” the release states. “Childcare near employment is a critical aspect of the fabric of our community. The opening of this facility helps address some of this need.”

Build-out of the childcare space is largely funded by an $800,000 Colorado Department of Early Childhood grant secured by the partnership of the town of Basalt and Pitkin County, according to the release. The Pitkin County Commission also allocated additional funds (including ARPA funds) to ensure completion of the project.

The facility is being operated by Blue Lake Preschool offering an infant room, two toddler rooms, and a preschool room. Those interested in reserving space for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old can learn more at bluelakepreschool.org.
