Gonzalez the wrong choice
Dear Editor:I oppose the appointment of Alberto Gonzalez as U.S. attorney general.I’m sure he’s a great guy and he has a wonderful personal story, but his memos to the president about the use of torture demonstrate that he doesn’t have the moral center, nor the respect for our Constitution, that an attorney general should have. His suggestion that the war on terror renders some provisions of the Geneva Convention “quaint” created the climate for the abuses at Abu Ghraib and elsewhere, which our country will be paying for with lives lost for decades to come.David ReedCarbondale
