Golfer Hughes 2nd in Aurora

Aspen junior golfer Jack Hughes kicked off the junior golf tournament season last weekend.

Hughes, from Snowmass Village, finished second in the Heritage Eagle Bend Classic tournament in Aurora, the first Rocky Mountain Junior Golf event of the season. Hughes shot a 78 in the boys 13-14 division to finish second behind B. Haake’s 77. He is from Highlands Ranch.

J. Jennnings of Montrose tied for fourth while other Western Slope golfers participated from Grand Junction.

42nd Filmfest includes tribute to founder

The Aspen Filmfest program, which opens Tuesday night with the Jessica Chastain-led drama “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” is a tribute to the founder, Ellen Kohner Hunt. The festival will also recognize the memory of Hunt with “Ellenfest” on Thursday.
