As Tom Brokaw says in his visually arresting documentary, “Global Warming: What You Need to Know,” if each of us in this country replaced one conventional light bulb with a compact fluorescent light (CFL), it’d be the equivalent of getting one million polluting cars off the road. (The Brokaw show will air again on the Discovery Channel at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19.)We’ll be giving out one CFL per household free (courtesy of Holy Cross Energy) on a first-come, first-served basis at the “Go Green Basalt” booth at Basalt River Days on Saturday, Aug. 19. If you haven’t tried CFLs yet, this is your chance.Ann MacLeodBasalt
