Go green this week

Dear Editor:

The city of Aspen ZGreen program invites all coffee and tea drinkers to participate in the ZGreen Reusable Cup Challenge going on this week. Through Friday this week, participating coffee shops will be competing to see which coffee shop can use the most reusable cups. As a customer, you can help your favorite shop win by bringing your own mug when you go for your morning coffee, or by asking for a washable cup if you are staying in. Remember that all participating coffee shops offer a discount if you BYOM.

This friendly community challenge hopes to raise awareness about the positive impact customers can have when they choose reusable items instead of disposable items. Paper coffee cups litter our streets and fill the city’s trash cans every day, so please make a small change in your daily habits and do your part to protect Aspen’s environment.

Participating shops include: The Aspen Store, Boden’s Butter, Starbucks, Cafe Ink, Peach’s, Paradise Bakery, and the French Pastry Cafe.
