Go Green

Dear Editor:”Improvements in energy efficiency often pay for themselves, actually leaving us better off,” writes Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas D. Kristof (The New York Times, Aug. 20).At Basalt’s River Days Saturday, our Go Green Basalt booth gave out 100 efficient light bulbs donated by Holy Cross Energy and awarded over 30 prizes to folks who offered to answer “green” questions. Congratulations to those who stopped to discuss energy and conservation issues in the midst of their fun at this lively event. And thanks to the businesses who donated prizes for our booth: Alpine Bank, Basalt Printing & Copying, Bighorn Toyota, Breakfast in America, Bristlecone Mountain Sports, Café Bernard, Canteen Coffeehouse, City Market, Crave Kitchen, El Korita Restaurant, Smoke Modern Barbecue, Sopris Chiropractic, Town Center Booksellers, town of Basalt, Valley Lumber, Willits General Store, Willits Wine & Spirits and Zheng Asian Bistro.Ann MacLeodBasalt
